Elite Team Cup Competition

Four EVO athletes were invited to the USAG Elite Team Cup to represent the southeast region, region 8, in a national team competition,  held in Frisco TX at the Ford Star Center.  This event was held in conjunction with the USAG Winter Cup. Garrett Schooley went on to win national title on pommel & floor.

“This premier event features nine men’s Regional Teams, each consisting of six junior elite gymnasts. Team scores for the Elite Team Cup will be based on five athletes competing on each event with the top three scores on each event counting.”

The region 8 team for this event was comprised of Chase Davenport-Mills, Garrett Schooley, Maxim Bereznev, Jaden Blank, Alex Karadzhov, Alexandru Nitache and alternates Benjamin Aguilar and Danilo Viciana.  50% of the team was comprised of EVO athletes! The team led the competition against 9 regions of the United States for most of the meet but finished 3rd overall.

Garrett finished a strong 2nd overall out of all 54 athletes with a 4th place finish on floor and 2nd place on pommel. Jaden finished 12th overall with a 5th place on vault. Alex finished 18th overall and 3rd on pommel.

Two Move on to Winter Cup Finals

“Based on their performances, select Elite Team Cup participants [then] earned the opportunity to compete for junior apparatus titles”  stated USAG. This event, named The 2022 Winter Cup, is a qualifying event to the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships.

Based on both Garrett and Alex’s performances, they were invited to this prestigious event where both competed on pommel and Garrett additionally competed on floor.  Ultimately, Garrett secured the gold medal on both pommel horse and floor and Alex secured 3rd on pommel.
