EVO Athletics is proud to be partnering with CORA Orthopedic and Rehabilitation centers! Two clinicians will be providing Astym/Graston demos, Kinesio taping, and injury screens in the ‘Green Room.’ They’ll be providing complimentary SFMA screens on the 2nd floor mezzanine. Plus they’ll be hosting competitions for broad jump and hand stand for time. The winners of each event will receive complimentary Astym/Graston or Alter G packages.
FREE course “The Science of the Handstand”
This course is for gymnasts (students & competitors both), their parents, instructor/coaches… athletics staff, Crossfit athletes and Yoga practitioners… Really ANYone that is interested in the science that underlies sport and athletics in general and artistic gymnastics specifically. Learn about the physics and bio-mechanics (in everyday language) that make GREAT handstands great. Learn strategies and effective corrections for stream-lining learning for this fundamental skill. This interactive lecture/demo will richly illustrate the WHY beneath coaches instructions and drills. Well-proven body sensitivity and learning progressions will be performed by all. This session will be full of fun and “lightbulb moments.”
The Workshop Facilitator; Steve Bonham
Steve Bonham has over forty years of experience in teaching and learning and sport pedagogy. He is former NCAA All American gymnast (team captain at LSU both years they were NCAA team runner-ups (1975 & 1976)), collegiate men’s gymnastics and diving coach, a kinesiology and coaching techniques professor and instructional designer/technologist & faculty developer.
